The Rollercoaster called Life

Well, I have an update to the last non-book related post. On Wednesday morning, about 2 minutes after my alarm went off, my phone rang. I don't know if it's the phone, the jack in my room or what, but it's a bad connection. Upon answering, I hear someone say, "this is _____ _____ from _____." For a split second, I thought it might have really been, but remembered I had told "Fu Ming" (that's his Chinese name that he uses over there) that if he ever called and said that as a joke, he'd be sure to get hung up on. Instead, I laughed and got the other phone. I got a few sentences in early in the call. I know those of you who know me really don't believe that he does most of the talking on the phone. However, it is true. So, about 20 minutes into the call, my bladder was screaming and I really thought about putting the phone on speaker and seeing if he noticed I left for two minutes and came back. I started trying to interject that I was enj

Enquiring minds want to know

Anyone remember when the National Enquirer had TV commercials? Their tagline was "enquiring minds want to know." forgot about those until I started typing up this entry. My grandmother used to read the National Enquirer. She may have even had a subscription. That really has nothing to do with anything. I have had people ask via direct message on Facebook "so how is the guy in China?" They did not know if I wanted anything posted on my wall. I posted on my blog that I had a "pen pal" China. My blog posts on my Facebook, so it's not like he is a top secret friend. And after all, we are just talking in the first place. :) The truth is, I don't know the answer to that question. He was away at a conference for a week without internet access, then when he got back had things to tend to. The Chinese holiday season is now over and school started back this week. Add in a 14 hour time difference when two people are working, and you don't get much o

One hot date

No, I do not have anything to report from this weekend. I think the hottest date ever on the Bachelor is when Shawntel took Brad to the crematorium and asked him if he wanted to be cremated. I mean, she did have the fire going at the time. If you watched it, you would have to admit that was just bizarre. Think that not giving her the rose may have been the wisest decision. Her dad was even creepy in a sense yet did finally give his blessing though he really wanted her succeed him in the family business and moving to Austin with Brad could wreck the plan. Here may be an interesting topic of conversation... If I were to ever find Mr. Right, I would not want him to ask for my dad's approval. I don't find it sweet. I feel like my parents have a thumb on me that I don't really want, and I feel I don't need anyone's permission. So that is my side note for the day. Speaking of asking my dad's permission, the guy after all the single women at church asked my dad

What a mess

Thankfully, Paige's basketball games were rearranged to both be this afternoon. I got some shopping in cuz goodness knows I'm tired of wearing the same thing all the time. And all you Target fans, I got to go to the one in the Waxahachie and got me a new lamp for me newly rearranged office (and some sunglasses). I am still in the midst of getting all my books back on my shelves since I've been in middle of the house rearranging. I do obviously have my computer set back up. And my new keyboard came in. It's so much better than my old one. I decided I needed this after I got a new one at work. I had to get one there because my space bar was sticking from using it so much. I love this wave board. I need to have a garage sale or partner up with someone who is having one because I have some stuff I need to get rid of. Seriously. The chances of me getting my other weekend projects finished are pretty nil. I don't think the flip flop of closets is going to happen eve

This weekend...

I am going to try to reclaim this weekend for myself. I've not done that in a while. Though I skipped the basketball games last weekend, I tried to make myself do some catch up with work and made myself miserable and accomplished not much of anything. There's only two basketball games tomorrow, and I'll make at least the later one. Not promising anything for the first because I have gotten 6 hours of sleep or less the past three nights and I need to sleep in. Two nights I stayed up trying to finish my fall scrapbook on Shutterfly to get it 50% off. I failed miserably. So, I hope to get it close to finished this weekend so that the next time they go on sale, I'll have it ready. I won't commit to having it completely finished though because that's too much self-imposed pressure. I also have to buy a birthday gift for work that I've been putting off for 2 weeks. I also need to go to the grocery store which might as well be against my religion. I did get

What's wrong with you people?

I guess no one wanted to contribute to my random question blog. I have no new random questions to ask. And I am running out of originality when it comes to the random question of the day for my friend in China. The good news is that you still have several days to chime in since he is at a convention and does not have access to the Internet right now. In other news, there is no other news. About anything. I have just been busy. For those of you who ready my blog because you are bloggers, I have a bunch of books coming up. Lots of work stuff swarming around my head making it difficult to come up with stuff to blog about. I feel like such a dull girl. Sad, huh? For those of you that live in Colorado Springs, I'm looking at coming on a trip your way in April. Who wants to do something when I come, and what are we going to do when I get there? I want to see a bunch of people (even if I do work with all of them in some way - yeah, all work friends), but I have nothing set as far as

Ready for some Boston Rob?

Just watching the commercials for the upcoming Celebrity Apprentice are enough for me. I've never been into The Apprentice , but it would take serious cash to watch LaToya Jackson, Jose Canseco and Gary Busey. The only person I'm somewhat curious about is Richard Hatch from Survivor, but I would rather watch that show about target shooting on the History Channel that has Colby Donaldson. But even Colby isn't enough to make me watch that. I do have some reality TV standards. I'm ready for Wednesday when Boston Rob comes back to Survivor for the fourth time to take on Russel who gets his third shot. I don't have any false illusions that Boston Rob is going to win, but please, oh please, just let him last longer than Russel. I can't believe that man has made it to the end twice. Logically, they probably took him to the end so that they could easily beat him. Glad that Boston Rob has his sass back this time. He was a little too mellow last time.

Is it spring yet?

Normally, I like the cold, but this winter weather is getting old! I do not like it when it's one hundred and three, But the snow last week was made for a ski. I don't care what studies say, when it's 70, then 17 the next day, People are bound to get sick, cough or sneeze, take your pick. Right now I'm about to freeze, through a crack in my door comes a breeze. My arms are covered in goose bumps, I take it back, they're more like lumps. At work no hot water in the sink, is about as cold as a skating rink. My hands are in need of major lotion, but the cracks scream at that notion. My lips are so very chapped, they feel like they have been zapped. And being cooped up with lots of ice, doesn't make any of us very nice. I don't see how the Yankees do it, I can handle only a little bit. Oh, the snow, it was pretty for a day, but for long it did not stay. In the land of the Lone Star, you need not go very far, nor do you have wait very long, a change in wea
