I have tried to teach this version to other groups and bombed. I have played a really bad YouTube YouTube version of a guy teaching it, and that was horrible.  The Old Testament books can be hard, and I never knew a song as a kid, so it's hard for me to find a song that works. Check last week's post for another version that some of the kids knew pretty well from home. There are a couple of different songs for the books of the Old Testament, but I find them to be hard. I'd even tried my own tune once upon a time. Look up YouTube videos. One poor guy, oh, it's bad. This group of kids had a knack for singing. and a couple of the girls already knew this version. A couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday night, I asked the kids to look up something in Proverbs. When one asked if that was in the Old Testament or the New Testament, that launched into learning the books of the Old Testament. I didn't get them singing this song because goodness knows, to have to sing would have been torture! Last year (the video is dated wrong - it should say 16), this is what happened when the kids asked, "There's an Amos?" during scripture races! Although not near as elaborate as one Jenny and I built about 12 years ago, Rachel and I are assembling a parting of the Red Sea in the hall leading to our classroom at church. This is what we have thus far. The lighter blue paper isn't cooperating. It's too thick and won't fold over like waves to well.  We are finishing tomorrow, so I'll have to post pictures of the finished sea. Since the small classroom across the hall is not being used currently, Rachel inspired me that when I run out of space in my current room to decorate (it won't take much longer), I should put the Promised Land across the hall on the other side of the Red Sea. I just might have to do it!
