Fall craft sale!

Image
I'm going to share some of our Crafty Dad and Daughter products since we won't have craft shows this fall. (Another reason to hate COVID.) If you are interested in anything you see, I'll ship anywhere in the US for whatever the USPS cost of shipping is. With this pumpkin sign, we have you covered with both Halloween and Thanksgiving! This 2-sided sign gives you twice the bang for the buck! $25 each (plus tax in Texas). If you are interested in one of these, let me know quick! I have the blanks ready, but they aren't lettered yet. Halloween side: 1) Trick or Treat 2) Happy Halloween Thanksgiving side: 1) Give Thanks 2) Happy Thanksgiving 3) Let us come before him with thanksgiving. 4) Gobble 'til you wobble These acorns are already made up. They are super cute in person. They are also $25 each. I was trying to take pictures at night in my entry hall, and the photos are not great. This is a big leaf that can be personalized with a family name or have something like ...

My annual tradition of hiding in my house and turning out the lights

Image
I dislike Halloween. This is my annual rant.  I confess: I stayed home from church--the dinner, class, Truck or Treat, the whole bit--because I didn't want to get out and almost run anyone down. It's so bad here in my town. If you don't almost run over people being less than wise, it's getting behind people who are less than wise with kids too old to be beginning for candy hanging off the back of a car or a trailer to get to neighborhoods outside their own.  Dad needed to bring something over, and it's really dark over here. I had to turn on the light for him which was just inviting someone to knock on my door. I got after him for taking his sweet time getting over here and in. I think he almost ran over someone on his way home.  At any rate, because I feel the need to share craft photos, these are are two-sided pumpkins. One side says, "Happy Halloween" or "rick or Treat" and the other has "Give Thanks" so that you can...

Annual hide in my house with the lights out day

Image
Luckily for me, the art room is in the back of the house where I can turn my lights on back there without anyone thinking I am home to trick or treat. I hate Halloween, and this is my annual profession of that fact. I won't bore you with a diatribe of why either. I'll share some funny memes in celebration instead.

Better than Halloween

Image
In north and central Texas, many residents had November 2 circled on their calendar. I know I did. A day much better than Halloween.  The day Blue Bell was delivered to stores on their phase 2 map.  I don't even buy ice cream that much, but the fact that it was not possible to buy it only drove my desire for it. The ONLY ice cream worth buying a carton of once you've tried it. Although my favorite flavor(s) aren't back yet, these will do!

When strange things show up at your door

Image
If you have been wondering if I'm truly alive or if the blog is just on auto post with projects, the answer is... I am barely alive, but all I have doing is working on projects. The past couple of weeks at work have been especially insane. I've done little more lately than work and crochet at nights. To avoid the possibility of trick-or-treaters thinking about knocking on my door, I even stayed upstairs late on Halloween. The only child I was willing to open the door for was this one... and she called ahead. She is the only child I know of who would pick this costume and could effectively pull it off. Only Peyton Kathleen. This gassy face isn't as terrifying as the other picture she had me take. That was Thursday night... Tonight as I sat on my couch, I heard voices all of a sudden. Then I realized who one of them belonged to as she yelled across the yard. Paige. As I was trying to jump up, the manic bangs on my door begin. She and some friends were doing a scave...

An emcee at a Halloween party for seniors

My life has come down to becoming an emcee at a Halloween party for senior citizens. My parents were invited to a couple's house for a Halloween party. Dad asked me to come along because this couple (who are in their 80s) are known for playing 42, and my mom doesn't play. There was an interesting combination of people there. I, of course, was the youngest, my mom was the next youngest and it steadily increased from there. The hostess then recruited me to help lead the games for the evening. First, it was a trivia game on 50's and 60's pop culture where everyone had to fill in the blanks. After that, we played the gossip game, AKA Telephone. I had to pick the two sentences that were whispered around the room. One in each direction. Let's just say when playing this game with a bunch of people that have hearing aids, or need hearing aids because they cannot hear out of one or the other ear, what gets around to the end is majorly skewed. More so than usual. At one...

Mike and Big Boo

Image
Paige used to fix her hair in dog ears and say she was Boo. She's getting so grown up that she dwarfs Mike. But they still love each other. By the way, this is my entire celebration of Halloween. I hate Halloween. My lights will be out and doors locked that night. But, I made Mike just for Paige.

Mike the Monster update

Image
Mike is getting closer to finished. I got most of his face painted tonight and his limbs attached. He's not sitting up where you can see him all in one piece because his paint was running. I have to get his arm to stick on better on one side (and a horn for that matter) and some blue around his pupil. I'm going to have to do the blue with marker, and I layered wet paint on wet paint to get him as close as finished as possible. You can't see his awesome legs and feet here. My dad thought his eyeball was a perfect circle. Not bad for freehand with a sponge paint brush. Paige and Peyton are going to love him.
