A quick glimpse at Nashville

Image
I didn't do much site seeing while in Nashville for PubU and the Christy Awards, but here are a few pictures. Caitlin did an around the town at night kind of thing after a day of conference sessions. That's what you do on business trips! This Studebaker truck was parked outside Monell's where I ate when I got into town. The man who drove it was one of the people seated at the table where I ate. It's family style dining, and you get to know new people because you will not be seated alone. This is the Monell's location near the airport. Caitlin and I went to the one in Germantown the next morning, and I didn't get a picture of it. If you go to Nashville, go to Monell's. It is an experience.  We went around the block twice to get this picture. We passed by it once by accident, then had to go back. If you watch the TV series, Nashville, you'll recognize Highway 65 Records. It was Rayna's label. The Parthenon looks spooky at night. Cait...

Long Way Gone

Image
I'm in the fall mode of getting my work done, then retreating to the craft room to catch up on projects for the next event. That's about all I'm doing. Working and craft working. I know you have heard me say it before. Reading for fun is a luxury right now, but then again, I've been in that kind of rut for awhile now. So sad. So very sad. Of course, I do some reading for work. There's not only the projects we work on, but those we don't. It's my job to screen potential projects. Sometimes, that's a chore when it comes to some self-published releases. I was going through a bad run of some of those recently when I was able to take a break to read because I wanted to read. I finally got Net Galley access to one of my favorite authors and get his book before it released. I wasn't patient either. There was a waiting/wish list for Charles Martin's Long Way Gone.  It was such a relief to dive smoothly into good writing. (Good editing for that matt...

Lazy hair is no longer an option

Image
Now that the weather has finally started to turn cooler, I don't feel the need to have all of my hair off of my sweating neck (even in my office). But wearing it down was a bit much, so I chopped a lot off yesterday. Not as much as Scarlet did on Nashville tonight though. (OH MY WORD!) It is shorter than I've had it in 2-3 years. The thing is... in some ways longer is easier. Shorter you have to fix it, even if it doesn't take quite as long with the straightening iron. Lazy hair - which I had been doing far too often as of late - is no longer an option. Oh, and this morning I woke up feeling like the back of my head was bruised. The girl doing the shampooing at the salon evidently thought she was a head masseuse. She needs to think again. She was way too rough. She rubbed the base of my head/top of my neck way too hard. I almost told her to stop when she told me to relax my head. I couldn't relax because I was in pain. From this: To this:

The surprise present I got my family

With minutes to spare by deadline, and while working before and after my Christmas party in order to get the most discounts, I finished the photo book of my family's summer vacation to give my parents and my nieces. Here's how it turned out! *As of 5/20/17, Shutterfly made me remove the widget.

The sites to see

Most of my vacation pictures are usually architectural or landscape. And animals... I get random animals. I didn't get a squirrel this time, and didn't upload my ducks. I always get ducks. Here are some of my favorites in no particular order than how they uploaded.  The infamous dock Jase tried to flood on Duck Dynasty. Union Station in Nashville Church in Nashville Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Antique Archeaology in Nashville Union Station clock tower Frist Museum Another church in Nashville Nashville's first public school Loved the colors of the Ferris Wheel in Pigeon Forge. Near the aquarium in Gatlinburg Inside the aquarium... you kind of have to look close, don't you. From the Smoky Mountain National Park road between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC. ELK!!! ...
