The youth of today... don't they have parents?

Image
It's time to blog about what's wrong with our nation today, and it has nothing to do with politics. Why am I watching this again? Yes, it is time to join in and watch The Bachelor . Yes, I sound like the old woman Demi thinks I am. And this is the expression of all of us old ladies as we watch. Just like Tracy's. Colton wakes up a little nervous on the day of the first group date. It's not going to take long for the girls to get viscous. Chris Harrison delivers the first date card. The card is read: "Demi, Bri, Tracey, Elyse, Hannah G., Nicole, Onyeka, Catherine... You never forget your first date." So, this group includes the oldest woman, the first impression rose and the woman who brought her dog. They head off to a theater where they are greeted by Megan Mullaly and Nick Offerman. They are going to share some stories about memorable firsts. They were bleeping innuendo. Literally. Lots of bleeps. Lots of suggestive vagueness. Megan and Nick...

Yes, I realize I shouldn't have been doing the hand gestures with them! Deep and Wide Deep and wide. Deep and wide. There’s a fountain flowing deep and wide. Deep and wide. Deep and wide. There’s a fountain flowing deep and wide. Hmmm and wide. Hmmm and wide. There’s a fountain flowing hmmm and wide. Hmmm and wide. Hmmm and wide. There’s a fountain flowing hmmm and wide. Deep and hmmm. Deep and hmmm. There’s a fountain flowing deep and hmmm. Deep and hmmm. Deep and hmmm. There’s a fountain flowing deep and hmmm. Hmmm and hmmm. Hmmm and hmmm. Deep and wide. Deep and wide. There’s a fountain flowing deep and wide.

What I didn't get done this weekend

Image
I really did enjoy the brief time that the room in the middle of my house was all nice and neat. Nothing was in middle of the floor and both the kitchen table and desk in middle of the room were free from clutter. It only lasted a brief period of time. Between last weekend's trip to Canton and Dad clearing out his garage of his book buying binges, this is what I have: My craft room hoard has overflowed into the area next to do the door.  I've looked at it all week thinking about cleaning it up, but it's all just there. I worked in the office today to catch up on some things instead of taking care of this downstairs. I could have done some late night clean-up. The late night hours are when I do my best work. However, I turned on Live PD and Say Yes to the Dress where this woman looks like she has purple cauliflower growing on top of her head. UPDATE: On Sunday I did put up the four boxes of books. That's because I have a significant order fro...

My tree is down and my office smells like burnt hair

Image
When I didn't get my Christmas tree up until December 11 and said it would have to be up for a month, I didn't really intend for a good 10 days of that to be mostly dismantled in middle of the floor.  A good two-thirds to three-fourths came down on January 1. And there it sat with piles of branches around the floor--piles I had to walk around in order to get to the bathroom for 10 days. I finally made myself finish the job last night. What remains is this: I truly am amazed my tree doesn't look like Charlie Brown's after it looses all these fake needles every time I put it up. My tree is still more full than any tree you can buy these days. I have a little room vacuum upstairs that is now protesting after trying to suck all this up. It now smells when you turn it on. I emptied out the canister hoping it would take care of the rest. Now I think I'm going to have to cut hair out. I think it's the hair caught up on the roller I'm smelling. ...

Finding Jesus in the Old Testament

Image
Part 2 of an interview with Kristen Hatton, Author of The Gospel Centered Life in Exodus for Students For many, Sunday school as a child is fondly remembered, with the introduction to the gospel story helped along with large picture books and easy-to-digest stories. Growing older, we made the move to Bibles with fewer pictures and more words and began to find the gospel in the Old Testament as well. However, we may have missed key instruction on how to make that transition. The new Gospel-Centered Life for Students series for teens and young adults will help make the connections clearer. In the first book of the series, The Gospel-Centered Life in Exodus for Students , author Kristen Hatton leads readers in finding and meeting Jesus in unexpected places as well as seeing the pattern of redemption present even in the Old Testament. As they learn the entire Bible is one unfolding story about Jesus, and the same God who spoke to Moses also sent his son to redeem our sin...

The best lines from Disney movies

Image
I got another Disney book in the mail... I asked last night if you had any ideas about what I was wanting to make next. If you guessed Disney quote canvases, you are correct! Now, I'm looking for Disney quotes from some of the movies represented on the cover of this book. Think Pinocchio : Let your conscience be your guide. The Lion King : Hakuna Matata, what a wonderful phrase. Peter Pan: You can fly, you can fly, you can fly. Bambi: If you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all. What may go on the wall headed up to my office from Snow White : Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work we go. What are some of your favorite lines from these movies or their soundtracks?

Can you guess what my next project is going to be?
