Our Urban Goose Chase

Image
Our Girls Night Out Group is always looking for a new adventure.  Several weeks ago, I got a Groupon notice for an Urban Goose Chase . Although one of our core group of five was going to Disney World, the rest of us were in, so I signed up for a deal! Until Rakia realized it was the weekend she was moving. And Jenny got pushed into working with just a few days notice. Angie and I really didn't want to have to be a two person team, after all, it was meant to be a group activity! Thankfully, Angie's neighbor Melinda was on board as well as Melinda's step-mom Angela. The premise for the Urban Goose Chase is this: during a three hour block, your team is supposed to complete as many tasks as possible from an app on your phone. During the task, your team takes a picture and each task is worth so many points. Everyone wears orange so you can spot other teams. At the end of the three hours, the team with the most points gets a cash prize. Here's what I learned about...

Let them eat pie!

Now that Angie can walk again, we're trying to get back into our monthly Girls' Night Out routine. Rakia picked Norma's Cafe in the Bishop Arts District because she heard about their pie. We ate fried pickles and our respective dinners first. We should have started with the pie because I for one could not breathe by the time we got out of there after eating so much. Jenny is never one to pose for a picture. Jenny's pecan pie. Angie may have been looking down on purpose. She had grilled cheese for dessert. That is some kind of Reese's concoction that Rakia has. I think it had bits of Reese's inside. That is my coconut pie, and I did take that meringue off the top.    Don't you wish you went with us?

Dr. Jekyll (or was it Mr. Hyde?) kept scaring the bejeebers out of me

I can't believe I just posted this awful picture of myself. At least everyone else looks good! Except for the shadows.  Our little group of girlfriends now has officially deemed the first Saturday of every month Girls' Night Out. This time, Jenny was sick, and we sure did miss her. We should have had a picture with us looking sad that she wasn't there. Only people in Dallas (and San Antonio) can really know the experience of The Magic Time Machine . Oh, I'm sure there are similar places elsewhere. The waiters all dress up as pop culture icons (Jack Sparro, Ace Venutra, Barbie, The Mad Hatter, Where's Waldo). The restaurant is like a maze where you wonder around in circles from the salad bar back to your table. You dare not ask where the restrooms are. And you bravely order a Roman Orgy. (That's their feast and it comes with a special song.) We sat in a booth next to another booth that was inside the Sorcerer's Apprentice's hat. Our waiter was Dr...
