Texas "cold"

Image
It's a typical Texas winter around here. Cool one day, 70-something the next. Thankfully, no one seems to care too much because I've still sold at least 6 hats this week. Thank goodness for the messy bun craze! (A couple of these didn't have holes in them though.) Speaking of Texas... We did Texas signs in other colors. We'll do other states in whatever color you want too!

I have so much to do, but can't find the time.

I have had a craft project I have been putting off because I'm not just real excited about the tediousness it's going to require. It's a special order, and I need to get it done. I've been using the excuse that I don't want to work on it at night because I need to do all the writing at one time and doing it at night when I'm tired would not be a good move. I had been planning to work on it today, but on Thursday, I found out Peyton had a basketball tournament on Saturday.  Because it has turned cold again, and my window is limited, I crocheted for orders between games. I have had a list for the weekend!  The thing is... I have to get back to the order next Saturday. I have to! Just wait until I post the pictures of it.

It's a hat... with a hole in it.

It has gotten cold in Texas again. Of course, in a week it will be 74 again. It is winter, after all. I'm back to trying to make the "messy bun" hats again. You know, the hat's with the hole for the pony tail or mess bun in the top.  Sort of like the scene from My Big Fath Greek Wedding ... It's a cake! With a hole in it. I can't get them made fast enough right now. If I had more made, I'd sell more. Headbands have been selling out at Virgil and Maudie's. I need to make more of those too.  Here's a picture of the oil derrick now that Dad got it painted. It looks really good, even if he took the picture a little crooked!

Because coloring is unproductive

Image
I've been really frazzled the past couple of weeks. Our publicity assistant leaving the company has thrown me for a loop - two weeks of looking for a replacement before she left followed by a week of covering the hottest items from both of our jobs. Our annual big project just ramped up this week too. Next week is training week.  Let's just say I've been doing lots of coloring. I have, however, decided that coloring is a waste of time, so I've pulled out another project instead. One I've started and stopped a couple of times in the past couple of years. I'm pretty sure the friend I was going to send this to gave up on it a long time ago.  Hopefully, I'll get in a good groove and finish it this time around!

Taking Valentine's offers

Image
I've gotten a little bit back into the crafting groove over the past week. I had a request for a heart headband which I assumed was for Valentine's Day, but I guess it doesn't have to be.  After I posted the red and white one, I got a request for a black and pink one.  I haven't made any Valentine's signs or wood crafts, but I can. I have supplies ready to start!

Creating a stockpile

Image
You remember how I keep posting pictures of all the bags of yarn I've bought. I can't exactly say I've made a dent in using it all, but I do have a stockpile of product started. I don' think you can really tell how many headbands/ear warmers are in the picture below. I couldn't keep up last year, so I'm ready this year. Now for it to get cold.

It is getting cooler, slowly, but surely

Image
This week and next is all about stocking up and making as much stuff as possible. Here's some of this week's creations. The weather is finally cooling down this week, so there are hopes of needing these in the future. The three matching hats were sent off to Nashville for a group of friends to wear to the Predators hockey games.

Confessions of a yarn hoarder

Image
I have a confession to make. I have a stockpile of yarn. A whole organized closet of yarn I need to use, and plan to use to make as many items to sell this fall/winter as possible. Today, I went out only needing green yarn. Green yarn as a school color for an event I have coming up. I came home with 24 skeins, and they weren't all green. I have a problem. Not that I keep buying yarn, that I cannot crochet fast enough to get it all made ASAP. I did finish the last 16 inches of a scarf and two headbands when I got home though.

One day, when it's warm...

Image
One day, not too long from now, it's going to get warm. I'm not looking forward to it because I would rather the weather be cool, but when it does happen, you're going to miss these posts. It was around 80 a few days ago, and since it got warm, a bunch of teenage girls decided to go play sand volleyball at the new Sonic... in their bikinis.  For crying out loud! Cover it up. It's January! I don't want to see you in middle of the summer out there flaunting your stuff while ordering my Route 44. I sure don't want to see you in January.  Headband for softball player. Headband with flowers you can switch out. My first time doing arm warmers... or wrist warmers, technically.

Thank goodness I find it relaxing

Image
This week has been on the nuts end of the spectrum, so I sure am glad I find crocheting to be stress relieving. Of these projects here though, I made three of them while on the youth retreat last weekend. One item had been on the list to make for a while, and my mom claimed one for herself. She asks all dramatic about, "oh, you finally made one for me." All she had to do was ask.

Thank goodness it is cold outside

Thank goodness it is cold here and there and everywhere! I am still keeping busy. If you see anything you like, let me know. I will make to order and ship! Roses are my new thing!

An old lady Friday night

Image
Not surprisingly on a cold and rainy Friday night, this is what I did last night. I really need to be making more! It's COLD outside. I could be selling right and left. Actually, I sort of still am. I have orders! Someone asked on Facebook if I knew how many hats I had made. Since I started making again back in the fall, I've made 30 hats, 21 headbands, and 2 scarves. I finally decided to claim this one from my box of "have not sold yet" to wear myself. (There's about 8 pot holders and not much else in there.) True, it was cold outside, but I also was having a bad hair day. Actually, I was having a greasy hair day because it is so cold the hot water won't stay hot enough in the shower to wash my hair. And/or I was lazy.

New hairy hats!

Image
These are all sold, but I will take orders! This hat was inspired by Frozen ! It was made to match a hat from Pinterest. I've had a friend asking for at least two years for a bearded hat, and I finally made a pair! The beard will come off so that it can be worn without it as well. I'm also doing scarves to match headbands or hats... This scarf/headband combo has interchangeable flowers. Contact me if you would like to place an order!
