Banned from the office, I finally got my hoard in order

Image
After working into the wee hours of Friday night/Saturday morning, I decided I was going to ban myself from the office for the weekend. My goal: to not even set foot up there for two days.  I knew I had put in a lot of hours for the month, but it wasn't until I looked at my time sheet that  I realized how many. Not knowing what to expect, in the job transition, I probably over committed for a time and am working toward adjustments. I'm so very thankful for the work. I'm not complaining about that at all. However, I know what it is to be a workaholic, and I'm trying not to get myself into that pattern. It's a bad habit, and I can't fall into that pattern, especially with fall quickly approaching when I need to and want to be available late into the nights to work on craft projects.  I have to give myself down time.  It's all going to work out. Now that I've overcome most of my technology problems, I have to work on my focus. It will all wor...

I'm afraid I really may become a hoarder

Image
The top of my hutch that already housed half of my collection. Yesterday I went with my mom to an estate sale where she picked up a few small glasses and several pieces of pewter I must admit I told her were at said sale. Shame on me. She's really gotten into these pewter pieces after my Grandmother swiped one from her house one day saying she'd never miss it. Grandmother has the not so great habit of pointing out all the items Mom collects which I believe only fuels the collecting all the more. In fact, she made some such comment to Mom while in town today. She's not the one that ever has to worry about getting rid of all of this one day. That job most likely falls to me when there's an estate sale to sell everything from everyone else's estate sale. It makes her happy. Leave her alone! I tell all this to say I'm becoming concerned I may have such borderline hoarding tendencies. I've mused this before with my supply of yarn in my yarn closet and MDF...

I just thought I was a hoarder before

I just thought I was a hoarder with all my mugs. Last night during commercials while watching Grey's Anatomy and Scandal , and during the hour following, I filled the 11 copy paper boxes that I had picked up earlier in the day. Eight of them are full of books. The others have some other things that were on my shelves, my collection of Disney clam shell videos, and other DVDs and CDs. (I don't buy CDs anymore, but I'm glad I had these left when my computer died about a year ago and my iPod didn't want to sync to the new one and bring the music back to me.) The saddest part about the 11 boxes, that wasn't even everything that was along one wall of my office. However, it was the highest concentration of "stuff" in all of my house. I wonder what I can accomplish tonight before my parents ask what all I have gotten done.
