I just thought that last month we had a big Texas snow . It was pretty much melted and gone the next day minus a snowman .  But not this time. When the snow melted five weeks ago, I looked ahead on Accuweather to see if it was predicted that we might get any more, and let me tell you, nothing like this was anywhere close.  The freezing temps and rain nearby started on Thursday. Peyton was supposed to have a playoff game that was postponed because of the roads. It was rescheduled for Friday, but in a town that could be treacherous to get to and from if freezing rain started, so I didn't make it. I did, however, make a run for enchiladas before I got frozen in. On Saturday, it started getting a little nasty here. On Sunday morning, there was a layer of ice on the roads and a light dusting of snow. These pictures are Monday morning. Part of the town was out of electricity. Sunday's snow started melting quickly on Monday morning, but I gave my neighbors a hard time about building me a snowman, so a couple of the kids and their dad did! As you can see, it took every bit of snow left in the yard to make it. They also gave it a beachy spin.  I made Brooke and Lincoln pose with him.  They decided he needed a family. I'm not sure if this one was a victim of the sun or something else, but heads rolled. Remnants of the largest snowman were around today, but in true Texas fashion, all the rest of the snow was gone.

It was an oh, so special Sunday! Not because it was my brother's birthday. He's probably going to remember this one though. It snowed! On my way to church at 10:30 AM, big sloppy, wet flakes were starting to fall. By the final amen about an hour later, the snow had started to cover the ground -- at least the grassy areas.  What was crazy about that is it was over 32*, and down here in Texas, it usually doesn't stick without some sleet first. We normally get more ice than snow. But the snow fell all afternoon on into evening. I think we got about four inches. But it didn't stay around long.  On Monday it started to melt when the sun came back out.  But it sure was pretty while it lasted.  

On the way to church this morning, some sloppy wet snowflakes were starting to fall. By the time the last amen was said, big, fat snowflakes fell heavily from the sky unlike any of these kids have ever seen before. All the kids ran out of the auditorium and to the foyer doors to watch. It's amazing how much coverage there was in just an hour. It's a miracle it stuck since the temperature was just above freezing.  And now, onto our throwback video which brings about a question... Ever thought about when the first snow was? Sometime after the flood... but was anyone at the location of the first snow? Had people been dispersed after Babel to see it?  We try... and sometimes that's what counts, especially on Wednesday nights. It's been really cold and wet all week. While less than an hour away the roads have been an icy mess, and some places have had inches of snow accumulation, this right here is as much snow as we got here where I live. Wednesday morning, big fluffy flakes beautifully down and coated everything. Then, two hours later it was all melted away. I was giddy while it lasted. Then, sad it didn't last longer when all that was left was big muddy puddles.
