Eat more kiwi!

The past 7-10 days rank up there among the most frustrating and difficult that I've had in a while. This past week was one of those weeks where absolutely nothing went smoothly. What should have been the simplest of tasks turned out to be difficult each and every time. There seemed to be a problem with everything. At work and outside of work. And patience. I remember throughout my life praying for patience for myself. This past week had I really been on the right track, I would have been praying for patience for everyone else. EVERYone wanted something right then. Right now, we are working on two children's books about teaching the fruits of the Spirit. Patience is one of those fruits. For some reason, I have decided that I will make the patience fruit be a kiwi. My mantra as I kept getting "right now" emails became much like that of Chick-fil-a... EAT MORE KIWI!!! So, here, I reveal my secret code message... If you see on my Facebook, "Eat more kiwi!!!&quo

Some mistakes are just part of the bigger plan

Can the lives of two strangers intertwine to influence the world? Have you ever wondered if there is a bigger plan to your life or if everything just happens by chance? In his newest book, The Blackberry Bush , David Housholder will take you on a journey across two continents to discover that your life may be bigger than you think and that even the worst of mistakes can find redemption. While on this journey, he will also examine today’s youth cultures and their complex relationship with the Christian faith. According to Housholder, “We are all products of an extensive root system, whether or not we believe it or acknowledge it.” The tapestries of our lives have been woven together using the pasts of our parents, grandparents and generations before who influenced who we will become. But we can take the mistakes from their pasts and weave them into something beautiful in our futures. We can be a product of generational blessings and generational curses, but it is up to us to sort it

There's no convincing some people

Actually, those same people can be convinced as long as it's not you trying to convince them. I just angrily hung up the phone with my father over something he could not be convinced of. However, that is not today's story. Today's story is someone who did have him convinced of something. Yet, I was completely in doubt. Last Monday around lunch time, my cell phone rang. Both of my parents were on the phone, telling me that Dad had won the Publisher's Clearing House. Yeah, right! "No, seriously, why did you just call me and ask me if I was sitting down because I really don't believe you." They emphatically kept telling me it was true, and that when asked if they wanted the award publicly or privately, the check would be coming UPS the next day rather than the balloon presentation at the front door. He had the number of PCH and their lawyers. He'd looked it up online. "Can I borrow a down payment on a house?" "Yes." "OK,

I'm no heiress

That's your tease to the post I hope to make tomorrow. I've not been home in days to blog since the girls have had softball games at least 3 nights a week and I've been going to bed when I get home so that I can get up early and try to get everything covered at work, especially since we have been short handed this week. Ah, but one day, I'll breathe and write. One day.
