More fall signs -- get them now!

Image
I have more fall signs to share with you! I'll ship these anywhere in the US. First up are mini pumpkins -- $10 each. They are 7-8" wide. These next pumpkins are larger. These and the leaves are all $15 each.  See something you like? Let me know! Just message me through the blog!

'Tis softball and baseball season

Image
I haven't been doing a whole lot out in the craft room, but I've been making sure I had enough baseballs and softballs for the couple of events we've had this spring. Most of these are standards.

Just keep swimming

This morning I judged a round of 7th grade girls' speech and listened to a couple of my 2nd grade boys do their speech at Lads to Leaders (see my puppet post from yesterday). It would be several hours before the next set of events, so while everyone was taking their lunch breaks, I headed back home.  Because the lines were insanely busy at the hotel, I hadn't had any breakfast. I wanted some chicken and dumplings at Cracker Barrel, so I headed to Arlington to stop and get some. For a Saturday before noon, they had a lot of people there. You would have thought it was Easter lunch (not quite Thanksgiving busy). I didn't want to wait, so I went to the other location that wasn't too far away. Got there, same thing. I ended up eating El Fenix which is really good, just not what I was going for.  From there, I sent clothes shopping. I stopped in another town looking for a certain paint pen color. When I finally made it home (seemed like it was going to take all day...

I do believe

I do believe this canvas will sell pretty quickly. I thought the same thing though with my "The Cover is not the Book" one too.

More Christmas!

Image
Since some of you are decorating now that Halloween is over (a bit early for me, yet I look for Hobby Lobby to roll out Christmas in June or July), here are a few more new Christmas items!

Special orders from this week

Image
Last weekend, we received a couple of special orders. First up: theater masks. Here's my take on comedy and drama. They looked better in better light and dusted off. I think Dad has a better picture. We didn't have enough college options to cover everyone, so we made up a couple of Angelo State University signs for an order.

I've finally gotten into the craft room again

Image
Well, more accurately, last weekend I got back in the craft room. I'm back in the office today. I also made a hat one night. That's some kind of progress on the craft front.  By the way, the cactus is for my sister-in-law. I most assuredly am not going back into teaching.

This Weekend in Craftiness

Image
This week's edition of "This Weekend in Craftiness" found me still trying to get books organized and put away. All the finished books have been sorted into "take" and "extra" boxes. I crammed 9 bins of full/ into the closet formerly known as "The Christmas Closet." Then I got to work on finishing other things I have started. Now is the time to get to work on everything else! Stay tuned next week for a post on our fall schedule. Ready to be personalized - I have a print version and a script version.

Banned from the office, I finally got my hoard in order

Image
After working into the wee hours of Friday night/Saturday morning, I decided I was going to ban myself from the office for the weekend. My goal: to not even set foot up there for two days.  I knew I had put in a lot of hours for the month, but it wasn't until I looked at my time sheet that  I realized how many. Not knowing what to expect, in the job transition, I probably over committed for a time and am working toward adjustments. I'm so very thankful for the work. I'm not complaining about that at all. However, I know what it is to be a workaholic, and I'm trying not to get myself into that pattern. It's a bad habit, and I can't fall into that pattern, especially with fall quickly approaching when I need to and want to be available late into the nights to work on craft projects.  I have to give myself down time.  It's all going to work out. Now that I've overcome most of my technology problems, I have to work on my focus. It will all wor...

The right week for special requests

Image
Once I posted the photos of the Texas books on Facebook, we got requests for paws and musical notes for end of school gifting. We don't always take requests, depending on how busy we are, but it's the right week for it. We've gotten lots of orders for them. We have practiced with some crosses and will likely have some this weekend. We really want hymnals for those though. Dad also talked to the owner of a Retro shop here in town. We're working on some really funky, cool items that will be sold exclusively there for anyone local, and possibly online. I keep our Facebook page up to date, so make sure you like and follow it to see what else we come up with. www.facebook.com/thecraftydadanddaughter/

Because I had nothing else I needed to do...

Image
I had 18 million things I needed to do today, craft and otherwise, but I went to Canton today to buy more stuff to make. I know. I'm nuts. I can't show you what yet, but I can share the photo of the plant I bought and hope I don't kill. Mom wasn't paying attention when I stopped, so when I caught back up with her, I had to turn around and buy her one. Technically, I didn't buy this today, but bought some more ampersands for the future. I did paint this when I got back. It's hard to tell, but the edges are pink.

I can't decide if I am unproductive or lofty goal setter

I always have these big plans for how my Saturday is going to go. I have this pile of wood, MDF and canvases to paint out in the craft studio. I've been meaning to do something with the canvases for a year, and they sit in the same place. This Saturday was no different. I was going to get all the cardboard boxes of cut books out of the middle of the floor once I combined them with the six bins out in the laundry room and then divided them in two sets for an upcoming event. You see, this there were 8 or 10 boxes in middle of the room I do not know what to call. I mentioned to Mom and Dad that I didn't know what to call this space, and Mom suggested "the middle of the floor." Accurate. It's the pass-through to all parts of the house, but does not have a specific other purpose. Mom and I divided all the letters to make sure we had them split evenly and a mix of colors in both groups. Exciting stuff, right? Why are you guys still reading my blog? After getti...

What my house looks like on a Saturday night

Image
It's time to start prepping for craft shows since we have a few coming up in April. Go figure we're doing two on the first weekend out. That means extra stock. I have a list of books we have cut, but sometimes you just have to see them laying out to figure out what colors you need to add in. I also had to decide how many I needed to make, so here's what my house looks like on a Saturday night. We only have half of what we need right now, and we dwindled down my stockpile. I would have gotten more done if I hadn't spent most of the day out and about with my parents on the great regional estate sale hunt. One of the houses we went to was absolutely insane and had a library with a rolling library ladder. Yet, we didn't find many books we could use there. One we went to had a whole upstairs full of cookbooks, but we have a stockpile right now and were being rather cheap. There's a lot of books on eBay for sale that I really want, but it is local pick-up only. Th...

I know you miss the crafty posts

Image
I know you miss the crafty posts with my latest projects, so here are my latest projects. A custom D painted like the Texas flag instead of the American flag. I'm in middle of making 5 messy bun hats that someone asked for 6 weeks ago. Good thing I still have a week until Christmas! I have actually made 2 per night the past couple of nights. I'm just an hour and a half away from being finished.

On the road again

Image
This weekend it's on the road again and again and again. Friday night set-up. Drive home. Saturday event. Drive home. Sunday event day two. Drive home. But the good news is it's shaping up to be our best event ever, so total win! I usually can try to do a personalization right then, but I had to wait until the end of the day for a breather! I'm so glad I had the blank acorn. I think it's cute!
