Monsters University

Yesterday, for Paige's birthday, we went to the movie that she has been waiting for since before Pixar even knew they were going to make it. ;) Monsters University As Paige calls it, "the prequel to my favorite movie ever!" I'm to blame. I've blogged about that before .  Ever wonder how Mike and Sully became best friends? How does one train to become a master scarer? Well, that's what the story was about. I really enjoyed it, but like Paige said, you can't really compare it to the first one because it's just different. It's true.  I loved little Mike so very much. Sully was kind of a jerk though. You need to go see. You just need to go see it. However, I will say that some of the previews/teases I saw beforehand weren't actually in the movie.

Mike and Big Boo

Paige used to fix her hair in dog ears and say she was Boo. She's getting so grown up that she dwarfs Mike. But they still love each other. By the way, this is my entire celebration of Halloween. I hate Halloween. My lights will be out and doors locked that night. But, I made Mike just for Paige.

Mike the Monster update

Mike is getting closer to finished. I got most of his face painted tonight and his limbs attached. He's not sitting up where you can see him all in one piece because his paint was running. I have to get his arm to stick on better on one side (and a horn for that matter) and some blue around his pupil. I'm going to have to do the blue with marker, and I layered wet paint on wet paint to get him as close as finished as possible. You can't see his awesome legs and feet here. My dad thought his eyeball was a perfect circle. Not bad for freehand with a sponge paint brush. Paige and Peyton are going to love him.

My Saturday Pinterest project - Part 1 - Mike

Image
This is the second Saturday in the last couple of weeks that I have spent the day on a Pinterest project. Perhaps, I should make that a goal of each weekend whether it be a recipe or some other kind of creation. Sometime over the past week or so, I also came across a website that was dedicated to Pinterest projects gone horribly wrong. Maybe not so much HORRIBLY, but certainly did not look like the original creation. Now, for the life of me, I cannot find the website. I thought I bookmarked it or pinned it or something. Oh, well. But the point of this ramble is that I may have a submission for this site if I ever find it. Months ago, I saw the picture below on Pinterest. I've posted before about Paige's love for Mike from Monsters Inc . I decided that I must make this for her. A few weeks ago, I showed her and she agreed that I must make this. Peyton saw it and immediately said, "Paige would love that!" Peyton wanted to show Paige and was so enthusiastic...

Why I'm a terrible, yet wonderful aunt

When Paige was about a year and a half old, I moved back in with my parents for about 6 months. At the time, I lived in a 'hood. Every time my friend Sammy came over to my house, the cops would be making a visit when he left. He used to tell me, "I used to live in the 'hood, so I can tell you you're living in it." One night, I came home to find the police looking for gun shells in my front yard. The final straw came when my presumably drugged out neighbor came over one night to tell me that her side of the duplex had been broken into during broad daylight (on Halloween). Whatever the circumstances may have actually been, I decided that was enough. All that really doesn't have anything to with the point of my story other than to explain why I was living with my parents. I felt a need to justify that since I was in my mid-twenties at the time. Anyway, during that time, little Paigey was over at my parents quite a bit while her mom was in night school class...
