Who needs Singles Awareness Day?

I was too busy to even care or much notice Valentine's Day yesterday. If it weren't for the kids in class Wednesday night, it would have been pretty easy to breeze by altogether. But, Singles Awareness Day today... Let me tell you what I did! With plenty of work still to do, I planned to work on late into the evening because I find Friday nights to be my most productive time. However, I was really tired and decided to call it quits in time to go to Whataburger, redeem my rewards for going there too often, and get settled into my living room in time to watch Live PD at 8 PM. Literally, that's how I wanted to spend my Friday night. That's really rather sad! I joke about this, I truly do, because I was laughing with my parents about it. I think it may be a sign of old age though instead of singleness. What do you think?

Whataburger for Thanksgiving?

Just in case this post comes across as complaining, let me say up front that it is not. I think it's funny. We sat out this morning, Thanksgiving Day, to head to Cypress for a two-day craft show. We picked this particular event in part as a mini giveaway and part avoiding potential family drama. The plan was to stop at Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving lunch when we got to Conroe, then check into the hotel in time for Dad to watch the Cowboy game.  Do you know me and plans? We are in two different cars so that we have one to run around in without a trailer attached and to also have extra books in case we sell a lot, especially since it's a two-day event. First planned stop: Buc-ees in Madisonville. Let me just say that you haven't seen anything like Buc-ees on Thanksgiving. If you live outside of Texas and don't know what Buc-ees is, it is a very large gas station and convenience store that boasts "The #1 place for #1" aka the cleanes...

Library etiquette

I never go to the library. Now, before you decide to flog, tar, and feather me, remember that I am a book hoarder. In my old age, you will find me buried in a stack of books. However, I promise there will not be dead cat skeletons, rotten food, and dirty adult diapers littering the house like an episode of Hoarding: Buried Alive . The house might be dusty, and I may have dirty dishes in the sink, but my hoard will be new or very gently used paperbacks. My filth level is not the point of this blog though. I never go to the library because I have more books than I can read in a decade, possibly longer, within my possession. Now, when my mom retires, she may go through the e-book hoard on her Kindle that I created for her plus my paperbacks. However, a couple of days ago, I decided to go to the library. I've been running so terribly behind on some things at work and desperately needed a change of scenery to buckle down and focus. I needed a quiet place. While I actually want...

The loud crowd

I keep planning to pack up my laptop and go somewhere else to work for a few hours at some point. I think a change of scenery would actually make me more productive. And for about 30 minutes today, it did. I decided I needed to take a break and get out of the house. I usually work through lunch time eating something at my desk. But, I needed to get out of the house. When I finally left, it was past the lunch rush, but instead of my laptop, I took my Kindle and a notebook to Whataburger so that I could work on some reading for a press kit. And I was productive for about 30 minutes. A study group of teenagers came in, and I just knew that they were going to get loud in the booth two back from me. Nope. They were actually studying. It was the senior citizen coffee crowd that ran me off. I thought they went in the mornings instead of the afternoons. I guess I was wrong. I'll keep that in mind. I may venture to the library next time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In other new...
