'Tis softball and baseball season

Image
I haven't been doing a whole lot out in the craft room, but I've been making sure I had enough baseballs and softballs for the couple of events we've had this spring. Most of these are standards.

And just like that, softball season has come to an end

After the Mildred Lady Eagles won district, we really believed they would go far in the playoffs. The first round was this week. The bi-district rounded started Wednesday night in Waco. It rained and poured all day long. My parents and I thought there would be no way they could play. I texted Peyton at one point. The game originally was supposed to play at 6:00 (I think). Then, the game got pushed to 7:30 PM. Peyton said that if the rain was supposed to end at 8:00, they might be able to start at 10:00 and get the game in by midnight. I knew that I would have to drive over there, and I hate to drive in the rain. I really thought the rain was over the roads. We decided to play it safe and stay home. I kept checking with Mom and Dad to make sure this was our plan. About 11 PM, I saw a post that they had played and lost. And I saw the picture above. Peyton (on the right) hit her first high school over-the-fence home run, and I missed it. I was so mad at myself. I couldn't bel...

Senior night at the softball game

Image
Tonight was senior night at the softball game. Peyton's just a freshman this year, but these girls are in Paige's graduating class this year. I can't believe they are graduating! I know adults say that all the time, but it's really hard to believe... (keep reading below) .  The seniors and Coach Baker: Callie, Chloe, Taylor and Haley. I have this realization at church too, not just school events. The group graduating is the first group I taught out at Westhill. They were three or four years old when I had them then. I taught them again for a year as 5th graders, and that's when they really became a part of my tribe of kids and I really got into teaching regularly.  I was close to the girls when they came over to my house and I chaperoned at youth retreats. Two of the boys stalked me for a couple of years at every single church service. Then, when whatever it was that happened (I still don't know what that was and just assume I never will) and...

A cold and misty night

Image
It was cold, and it was misty, but last night, we got to watch some softball.

New options on the sports wall

Because I get tired of doing the same quotes all the time ("Be the one everyone wants to watch, but no one wants to play against" for example), I decided to mix it up a little bit. Actually, the hockey quotes are the same I've been doing, but had a hockey player to add this time. And yes, we sell hockey signs.

It's officially softball season again

I'm going to have to start being more timely about finishing my work for the day now that Peyton's softball season has started. I'll take any reason to do better about that, but this is a really good one. Peyton has moved over to first base since her new team has some older girls on it. She's not loving it at the moment, but I hope it will grow on her. She's good and versatile. She'll do great rather she likes it or not.

It's softball season!

It's softball season for Peyton! I missed her tournament this past weekend while I was at an event, but tonight started her regular season. As high school softball is winding down, and summer leagues are starting up, I'll make a sales pitch. Doesn't your softball player need one of these signs?
