I should have started at Big Lots

I know I should have spent my Fourth of July day off packing up something, but I wanted to get out of the old house and go look for stuff for the new house. I honestly don't plan on buying a lot of new stuff for the house, but I need some shower curtains. I'm over the one in the pink bathroom I've had. The only reason I had it is because it matched the pink tile. Plus I need another one for the other bathroom. I'm not using the palm tree one that I've had for probably 15 years now in the spare. Seriously, I've had it that long. I need new. With shower curtains, I need bath mats. I also wanted some succulents to plant in mason jars to put on my kitchen table underneath the light fixture that has jars. So, there's not really anywhere to shop in town outside of Walmart and Big Lots, so off to Waxahachie I went, dragging Mom with me. Went to Hobby Lobby because we could. Mom bought a little rock owl. Went to Target. Bought nothing. Went to Lowe's....

One of these weeks, my Saturday is not going to be exhausting

Image
Last weekend I yammered on about how this weekend was going to consist of a whole lot of nothing after the flurry and fury that the past two months have been. No plans. A bunch of nothing. Yeah, right. Maybe in two weeks. Maybe. First unexpected event was my Grandmother coming to town. Her sister brought her over after a funeral Friday morning. She came to see my house, then stayed at my parents. Secondly, Paige started texting me about 30 minutes before quitting time Friday that she wanted to go out to eat and for her, me, Peyton, Mom and Dad go see 42 at the movies. I told her maybe we could go to the movies on Saturday. When I tell Dad this, he decides to go pick the girls up and bring them into town. So, we all gathered for dinner which was kind of a mad house of loudness and confusion. You kind of had to be there. I'll not bore you with details. My Saturday rule is that I don't get out of bed until 9 AM. I was up before 8. I tossed and turned all night a...

It's the little things that make it feel homier

Last week when Paige got to see inside my new house, she looked around and said it had potential but needed some Audra touches. Yesterday, we got all the furniture over except for a drawing table (forgot it was in the closet), and today, I did start putting some Audra touches into the place. And, I did forget before and after pictures, by the way. I'm stupid that way. It's actually that I was more concerned with the work than with the social media updates. At one point, I went over to the new place and forgot my phone at my parents and sure did want it to take pictures to show my mom what I had accomplished. Thankfully, Dad said, "your regular camera is here somewhere, isn't it?" YES! In a box within a box upstairs in one of 14 that look alike! Actually, I could narrow it down a little better than that. One thing that makes it more like home is switching out lots and lots of old and ugly light switch and plug plates. I've bought 40 of different vari...

Why is that a Black Friday deal?

Image
Maybe I need to go Black Friday shopping after all. I was looking at the Walmart ads. Two whole circulars. Event 1 starts at 8 PM on Thanksgiving. Event 2 at 10 PM on Thursday. Each with its own deals. Event 3 starts at 5 AM on Black Friday. This is a picture of the front page. Seriously? I mean yeah, it's a good deal on the big skeins of yarn. Yes, unlike serious crocheters, I use Red Heart (like my Nanny did). But really? They had more yarn on another page. I just found it strange that yarn ranks with 60" TVs as front page deals. I'm kind of thinking about going to Walmart on Friday after all. That makes me a mega nerd. Oh and I had to go out there today. My parents' microwave started firing sparks this morning so I went with Dad to get a new one. An exhilarating day off. It was nuts today. I can only imagine the rush for yarn.
