I should have started at Big Lots

I know I should have spent my Fourth of July day off packing up something, but I wanted to get out of the old house and go look for stuff for the new house.

I honestly don't plan on buying a lot of new stuff for the house, but I need some shower curtains. I'm over the one in the pink bathroom I've had. The only reason I had it is because it matched the pink tile. Plus I need another one for the other bathroom. I'm not using the palm tree one that I've had for probably 15 years now in the spare. Seriously, I've had it that long. I need new. With shower curtains, I need bath mats.

I also wanted some succulents to plant in mason jars to put on my kitchen table underneath the light fixture that has jars.

So, there's not really anywhere to shop in town outside of Walmart and Big Lots, so off to Waxahachie I went, dragging Mom with me.

Went to Hobby Lobby because we could. Mom bought a little rock owl.

Went to Target. Bought nothing.

Went to Lowe's. Bought ant killer.

Went to Penney's. Hated everything.

Went to Home Depot. Still didn't buy succulents.

Went to Walmart. Bought a water hose and succulents.

Came home defeated, without shower curtains or bath mats.

This isn't the first time I've gone on a hunt like this. I'm pretty sure I did the same thing looking for a comforter for my spare bedroom several years ago.

Once we got home, I decided to just go to Big Lots. After all, that's seriously where most of the curtains in my house came from.

Bought two shower curtains that I liked way better than anything else I had seen. They had the best selection of anywhere I went.

From there, I went and found bath mats at the Corsicana Walmart that I didn't see at Waxahachie's Walmart.

Lesson I learned: Go to Big Lots first.

I'll have to post pictures when I get them up. They aren't up yet.

So, did you waste your day off like I feel like I did?
