Crafty pic of the week... and the Kleenex box lady.

Image
I haven't had much time to get in the studio lately, especially with craft events for three Saturdays in a row, but I did finish off an order this week. This one is Texas State University. I think I may make these in other colleges by the fall, but not as many colleges as the Kleenex box lady has. There is a woman we have seen at numerous craft shows that sells Kleenex box holders like my great grandmother made back in 1982. I do believe she has every university in the United States as well as most every professional sports team. I don't know who on earth actually wants one of these things, but she has tons of them along with gift card holders made from the same needlepoint mesh and yarn. She even had two booths this past weekend. I don't see how she would have covered her booth fees. She told me one time how much she had sold during a given weekend. I didn't believe her. Below I have just one example of the boxes she does in a random college, true to the randomne...

I am so busy

I have been so busy on every front lately and need a paper bag for hyperventilating when I think of what I need to do for work, for VBS and to get ready for some upcoming craft shows. But there are a few things I have squeezed in lately. And yes, I have been planning out Christmas trees for a Christmas in July show next month. Pictures are coming to update this post. There are pictures on my phone, but blogging from my phone, the pictures are not cooperating. OR I may just have to update next weekend.

I'm sorry my life is so boring

I'm sorry my life has become all work, crafts, and that's it. Here's what I've finished the last couple of nights. Remember, The Crafty Dad and Daughter ships!

A legendary day of sorts

Image
Back fourteen years ago, I had a group of single friends from church that regularly got together and did things. There were five core members of the group, and others that occasionally were a part of the group. Over the years members of the group got married, moved off, and had children. The guys all went off first. Bit by bit our group fell apart and largely lost touch. Today was a landmark day. The last of my friends from the group got her big day. Congratulations Jenny! May you have your happily ever after! I'm officially the solo of the singles now. Except that one really weird guy we let go to the movies once and he wore sunglasses in the dark. We never let him join us after that. And I think he may be a werewolf, so he doesn't count.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In other news, I'm still painting crafts to get ready for a show. The first of three coming up in the next two months is next weekend. I still have so much to do! Don't forget to check out...

A bit of Deja Vu

Image
My house looks a bit like it did back around Christmas when I was getting ready for craft shows. I've been saying up late again too. Here's a peek of what I've been working on. I'll post more pictures tomorrow, and be sure to check out The Crafty Dad and Daughter site . Please like us on Facebook too!

My house looks like something exploded again

Image
So it looks like the Easter bunny exploded over here! It's not all Easter decorations, but I can't wait until I get some things finished so I can post what I've been working on this weekend! I have so many things started! Then, I'll have to get posts up over at The Crafty Dad and Daughter !

New crafty items!

Image
Here's the finished versions of the plaques I was working on last night. They are about 8x8 inches.   I also repainted a knob jewelry holder and have some cute ideas for what I'm doing next!

Making a mess again

Image
I brought out the paint tonight. I started painting some goodies I found at a salvage place here in town. They sell unclaimed freight, and I scooped up some deals. Ironically, they also had stacks of books from one of the publishers I work with all the time, some of which I had already gotten in the mail. Anyway, here's the work in progress. I'll post some of the finished product tomorrow.

Another venture

It's all about the paint, about the paint around here. This is Paige's canvas request for Christmas. I hope she likes it. I thought this was going to be the last of the paint before Christmas, but I have a letter to make.

I just thought I could put the paint away

Image
I thought I was done with painting and onto crocheting requests, but after special orders this weekend at our Crafty Dad and Daughter booth, and deciding what to do for Christmas gifts, look what I'm doing again! I can't wait for you to see some of the things I'm working on for these special orders! I will share them soon.

Our last show for the year, but still have product available!

Image
Yesterday, the IOOF Holiday Market was our last show of the year, but we still have product available! Share with your friends! Visit our Facebook page for holiday deals! I will also have crocheted items - and will make upon request if I have yard available in what you like (my living room overfloweth) if you would like something specific made (not like a king-size blanket, of course, at least by Christmas).

Not sure I'm into the show biz

One more show tomorrow for the Christmas season. I'm not sure I'm into all these shows. I'm crocheting as much as I can get to tonight to sale tomorrow. I'm ready for life to not revolve around crafting! Maybe I will have something new to blog about soon!

When your Thanksgiving vacation isn't restful

Image
I sure have been looking forward to this break here at Thanksgiving. Given how late I have been up trying to finish off crafts, I could have used the rest. However, on Wednesday, I cooked most of the day after gluing a few projects and finishing some things that night. Thursday, I wanted to crochet more items for the sell, but didn't get too much done. I did go to Office Depot when they opened at 6 PM and bought a laptop which has been my plan ever since the one I bought 2 years ago on Black Friday died a few months ago. We drove by Walmart right at 6, and there was not a parking place to be found, literally. People were parking in all nearby parking lots. I did not get my Door Buster yarn because nothing is worth the mess of all those people at Walmart. Friday, I tried to crochet all day, but kept getting distracted. This morning, I got up after about 5 hours sleep to set up for a show that did worse than the last one. (I had to sign-up for another one next weeken...

This is now my life

Image
I sure hope we sell lots of Christmas trees and Christmas balls next weekend, because this has become my life! Dad and I kind of tricked Mom into coming over Thursday night. Maybe Dad tricked me too. I told him I was going to crochet while watching my TGIT shows ( Grey's Anatomy and Scandal ). He was going to come over to paint, and bring Mom along to watch TV. We all ended up painting for 3 hours. Earlier today Paige came over and painted for a while. Dad stayed most of the day. Rakia is coming down tomorrow, and is going to help some too. I STILL NEED to crochet more because I have orders and I know others want headbands. And yes, I need to crop my pictures to get my feet out of them and rotate them. Time is not on my side.
