This is something you can be thankful for

Image
I am sure everyone will be glad to know that my bathroom has been painted and I am done! I did think that I was going to have to go to Home Depot to buy a sample size can of paint to finish. I had to use practically all of the bottom coating of the can because I used the same color as my bedrooms and hall. I was thinking about all the paint my dad poured on the floor and himself while I was painting the hall. Thankfully the lighting isn't that great and you cannot tell how good or bad the coverage is. The new towel racks are up, new shower curtain my aunt found for me hung (I saw hers a few weeks ago and she has the same pink tile), and bath mat I found yesterday on the floor. So much better than the horrid almost neon pink wallpaper.

Significant progress on two of the "never ending projects"

Image
I declare this the weekend for progress! Look what I finally finished last night. Or this morning. Ok, it was the wee hours of the morning after the night before having to deconstruct a piece of another project to get enough teal yarn to finish the border. And I am in the home stretch of the bathroom project too! This is before the texturing I did today (with my handy assistant, Dad). And after... All that's left now is paint. Paint I can handle! My next weekend project - I have high hopes for after my Sunday nap - is to make this look like Christmas. Wish me luck!

The never ending projects

The good news is that I didn't procrastinate any longer with the wallpaper project. It is now officially all off except what is underneath the the light fixture itself, so there is a little wallpaper poking out from it. After I finished, I went and bought the texture to go on the walls. I'm not exactly sure when I will get that part done. But, I have it all ready to get started. The bad news is that this crochet project for my mom's present is NOT ANYWHERE near as big as I had originally planned for it to be. However, it is big enough to be a royal pain in the rear to keep rotating as I am piecing all the hexagons together. The coloring is off by using my phone camera, so I need to get some better pictures, possibly in another room. I almost have all the hexagons stitched together, but I don't think it's going to get king size bed sized (my original goal). This is a queen bed here. I'm just plain tired of making hexagons for one thing. I don't li...

Procrastination... and you wouldn't blame me

This weekend may end up with me facing all the things I've been putting off. Things anyone would procrastinate in doing. Like going to the grocery store. I hate going to the grocery store, but I can only go without buying milk and toilet paper for so long. My fridge is getting near empty. I've drank all the Coke Zero from the mini fridge in the office. All I have to eat for breakfast now is cereal, but I don't do well with dry cereal for breakfast. I had planned to go tonight when I got off of work, but I had to finish some things up, and at 7:00 I was over the thought of it. I didn't want to go in the dark. That's mostly just an excuse. Since October 1, I have been putting off logging on to the Obamacare website. My health insurance ends at the end of the year like many others who face the same fate due to the Affordable Care Act. I pay quite a bit now, and the letter I was sent in the mail says that there's a possibility it will be less expensive. I ha...

The only reason it's not too early to start counting down to Christmas

Image
Those of you that know me well or much at all know I'm not the biggest fan of the Christmas season in general. I only want to hear Christmas music from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas day itself. No earlier, no later. The same goes for Christmas decorations. I'll start assembling on Thanksgiving, but I will disassemble on December 26, if not as soon as I get home from Kaufman on Christmas day itself. Yes, I have been known to put up three Christmas trees, but that's a push to be well decorated and honestly decorating depresses me to no end every year. And as OCD as I am, decorating my big Christmas tree to perfection is an anxiety attack waiting to happen. I hate it. I'm annoyed at how early stores put out Christmas decorations and push you towards shopping. I say "let Halloween and Thanksgiving have their moments!" I say this those despising Halloween on so many levels that you don't want to get me started. The best thing about Hallo...

Painful renovation

Image
After a months' long hiatus of trying to remove the wallpaper from my bathroom, I tackled it again this past Saturday. Seeing how much better the designated wallpaper scraper worked than the putty knife I had been using previously, I called and begged my dad for his help. While we got a majority of it down, we still have some left. Oh, and prepping before I do whatever I do next. I think it's going to be wallpaper I had left from the last time I papered because I don't want to texture the walls the way my dad knows how to texture. That would be less messy than texturing and painting. And oh my goodness the mess we had to clean up after taking down the other day. It was awful. A part of me also thinks I'm going to end up with mesothelioma because I would not doubt there was asbestos in the old wallpaper. All this because I thought the old wallpaper was so ugly. Who am I kidding, it was that ugly. Saturday night when I was sitting in my living room it hurt terri...
