I'm bringing funny back

TOPIC #1: This is just an observation, but have you ever noticed, you can just look at someone on American Idol and tell if they have talent or not? This is a TACKY ALERT, so I'm warning you now in case you want to quit reading. Just watch these first auditions. There isn't one strange or extra frumpy or dressed-up crazy person that has talent. There was just one guy that got through that was wearing a plaid shirt and average looking they let through, so I'm not saying you have to be drop dead georgeous. But come on, if you are watching, you know what I mean. If someone looks like their mom might have been on last night's news report when the tornado came through the trailer park (you know they always pick the most bizarre or unfortunate looking people), you probably can't carry a tune in the bucket that's on the front porch. That's ok though because if you are wearing a pink cowboy hat and pink boots, you aren't going to Hollywood either. If you have th...

Tough audience?

I'm watching American Idol. I was looking forward to it. I'm not enjoying it yet. Maybe I'm just a tough audience. I don't have much more to say. There have been a few strange ones thus far, but not funny strange. I've laughed a little once. Maybe it will get better, or worse. I'll let you know.

I think I'll just go to bed

I kind of geared myself up for American Idol, then realized it doesn't start until tomorrow night. Pooh. The last couple of years, I've given up by the end, but do enjoy the really bad stuff they show at the beginning of the season. I may be one of the few out there though. That's what I'm blogging about tomorrow. Last night, I was up too late, so I'm ready to go to sleep. Especially since I had a headache for a good chunk of the day again. There's not really anything on TV either, yet I'm watching Not So Superstars of Dance. Did the judge from South Africa SERIOUSLY just give Poppin ' Robert a 9? And the judge from China? Bah, I'm disappointed. Is Nigel now paying off the judges? I don't understand his appeal AT ALL. It was billed to be a show filled with amazing talent, but I've yet to be impressed. Neither has anyone else I've talked to. I'd rank the show about a 4 on a scale of 10, but I'm watching it just so that I can compl...

What's wrong with your hair?

Welcome to my two new followers! You picked a good week to follow in order to see information about some of the great projects I'm working on. Some of my co-workers and friends that read my blog to get a laugh have found me in a rut the past several days. I've just not had much to say. I'm sorry that today isn't going to be much better considering the fact I woke up with a headache, it got worse, then it got some better, but my head still hurts. I'm having a little bit of trouble fixing my button so that others can add it to their blog. I'm just not doing something right and am looking for the patience to work it out. I just thought it was appropriate that it was purple, and I fixed it on Facebook to actually look like Flair. I will have everyone know that I've always liked purple, but it's become evidently an obsession lately, and I'm not sure why. That is one of my hesitations with the purple sofa that everyone thinks I need to buy. I'm just t...

So uninspired

I'm going to have to find a life pretty quickly because I need some new material to write about. I need some writing inspiration in the worst way. Well, I can report that my parents have made reservations for Branson in July. The girls were all over at Mom and Dad's this afternoon after Madison's bowling party, and Paige called me to come on over several hours later. Dad told her to look over the list of shows, but not to say anything to me (can you say passive aggressive ? - I was in the same room). Dad does say, "we have reservations for July." My reply was a kind, "you all will have fun." "You aren't going?" "What, you haven't heard me say this before?," I think to myself... Paige is OK with knowing that I'm not going, and as long as she knows and is OK with it, I'm not worried about anyone else. Hopefully, I will have more entertaining tales to tell soon.

Butterfly Award

I received my first blog award this week. Thank you to Kristi at Books and Needlepoint for deeming Seriously? worthy of any honor. I get to pass The Butterfly Award on to other blogs now. Here are the simple rules: Put the logo on your blog. Add a link to the person who awarded you. Award up to ten other blogs. Add links to those blogs on yours. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs. However, I'm going to even tell why I give these people their award today. I honestly think Kristi ( Books and Needlepoint ) deserves a Butterfly Award in return for no other reason than reading my blog! Then, I give this to Misha ( My Picket Fence ) for oh so many reasons, including the fact that she's gotten back on a roll and has brightened my days with two new posts in the past week. Welcome back Misha! (She also writes most all of the PR for the books from work, so her material often makes my blog.) To Deena ( A Peek at My Bookshelf ) for posting my first guest book review and for ...

Post anxiety attack

Last night after my self induced anxiety attack of shaking all over, being sick to my stomach and getting past the need for a paper bag, I finally settled down, took a shower, got into bed, and opened my Bible. (That sentence may when the award for most commas.) When I opened up to read my New Testament daily reading specified for January 8, this is the opening sentence: "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life..." Uh, why wasn't I reading this an hour ago? "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Now, if only I could master that. I'm not worked up into the frenzy I was, but the anxiety is still there below the surface. My shout out for today go to Misha for bringing me a blended caramel macchiato from my favorite place in town to get them--just the way I like--because she's a special friend who does that when she knows I need a pick me up (she and ...
