If you have been reading my blog for any period of time, you have heard me talk about how I don't get out of the house much. Well, that's mostly true lately except for the five Saturdays in a row I haven't been home. A few of those were selling crafts. I work and do crafts. That's what I do. I'm pretty predictable. Right down to what I do when I have a big night out of the house. I either go to watch the Texas Rangers play, which I did five weeks ago, or I go to a certain group's concert. Yes, I have seen New Kids on the Block four times in the past seven years at the American Airlines Center. That makes five times total, all with my friend, Jenny. The first time, in 1990, we were in junior high, and we have a pact to go with each other. One time someone else went with us (apart from when we had to be chaperoned), but we must not go apart from one another. Our Girls Night Out Group is always looking for a new adventure.  Several weeks ago, I got a Groupon notice for an Urban Goose Chase . Although one of our core group of five was going to Disney World, the rest of us were in, so I signed up for a deal! Until Rakia realized it was the weekend she was moving. And Jenny got pushed into working with just a few days notice. Angie and I really didn't want to have to be a two person team, after all, it was meant to be a group activity! Thankfully, Angie's neighbor Melinda was on board as well as Melinda's step-mom Angela. The premise for the Urban Goose Chase is this: during a three hour block, your team is supposed to complete as many tasks as possible from an app on your phone. During the task, your team takes a picture and each task is worth so many points. Everyone wears orange so you can spot other teams. At the end of the three hours, the team with the most points gets a cash prize. Here's what I learned about...

When it is all said and done, I'll have a four day weekend that I've been sort of needing, but definitely wanting. I've not taken a full workday off in a long while. There's been a couple of days that I've only gotten a couple of hours in, but I had intended more than that for sure. Anyway, I wanted to do something part of the weekend, and chill out the rest. Friday was our out and about day, but the rest of the long Memorial Day weekend is dedicated to the memory of my mom's Aunt Eula Mae that passed away overnight/early Friday morning. That makes it a long weekend in a whole other way. I sure will miss her! But, back to part 2 of our Friday adventure... I'm the Dallas driver among me and my parents. For everyone outside of Dallas or Texas, I ask this question... What was the most historic event to ever happen in Dallas? In case it isn't coming to you... the 50th anniversary is coming up this November. It's not who shot J.R. Ewing, it's who shot John F. Kennedy. With a day off yesterday (because I just had enough hours in that I could), I went up with my parents to the Sixth Floor Museum which is where Lee Harvey Oswald was when he fired the fatal shots. I've always lived within an hour (north or south) of Dealey Plaza, I've only driven through it with the grassy knoll on each side. I've never been in the building. Neither had my parents, and with all the talk around here of the 50th anniversary, I guess we decided it was about time. This is a replica of the building the way it looked back in 1963. It's actually housed on the 7th floor. You can't take any pictures on the 6th floor which I sort of don't understand. All that is...

I did a really good job of emailing Paige like she emails me when she is on vacation... for the first 5 days until we crossed the Canadian border, and I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for data service. Free wi-fi was not so readily available.  To give you a summary of my trip, I'm going to share with you the emails I sent Paige and my parents (I still owe her one for the last three days - she's on another trip now!). Just keep in mind that my recap was especially for her, including food updates like she does.
