Reading just makes me want to go on vacation

Image
I planned to sit around and read today. Instead, I sat around and did other things like watch the Rangers game, crochet and take a nap. Predictable. Besides, reading just makes me want to go on a trip somewhere right now. Somewhere different. My last trip was to that forsaken place, you know, last October - my last week off. I did have part of a day of site seeing when I went on a business trip last July to Atlanta, but I'd seen that part of the sites before too. Goodness knows that was an "all work and no play" trip. For some reason, coincidence I guess, I'm learning about Mackinac Island. I've been reading Cara Putman's A Wedding Transpires on Mackinac Island. Then this week, I wrote a press kit for another book coming out in a couple of months - Love Finds You in Mackinac Island, Michigan by Melanie Dobson. I read through her info on the island as I worked on the press kit. While I know it must be beautiful, I'm not sure that I really want...

C'mon over and catch the freak show

Image
In case you haven't heard, the new season of Sister Wives is starting Sunday night. As was expected of me, I'm having people over for a watching party. If you're interested in watching what amounts to a freak show, come on over!  Since it's Mother's Day, and plans are in the air for some people (meaning I don't know who all to expect), just pick up something to eat on your way over. Yeah, bad hostessing on my part. The Brown family also has a new book out. I'm really that curious enough that I really kind of want to read it. What's stopping me is the stacks of books all over my house that have not been read yet. Why buy another when I have piles? I've read the reviews of Becoming Sister Wives on Amazon, and they point to the book being terrible and not saying much that we didn't already know. Despite how happy they say they are, early readers say they are all depressed.  The thought crossed my mind to track down the publicist a...

There's something about Baltimore

Image
Tonight's blog is going to be short and sweet because I've not been able to watch the Rangers much this week. We started off at the softball fields during a big win Monday (followed by an uncooperative DVR that wouldn't let me change channels) and because of the same DVR reasoning, I missed all four of Josh Hamilton's home runs. I was sure following on my phone app though. Historically, there have been some big games for the Rangers in Baltimore with high scores. After all the history surrounding Hamilton's four home runs on Tuesday, I've been ready to watch today. I even turned my TV around to face my hall so I can sort of watch the double header today from my desk. See: I'm really watching through a crack in the door because of where my desk is. The home run history went opposite of the Rangers' way last game. Really Colby Lewis? Three straight home runs in the 1st inning, 18 straight outs, then two more home runs. For shame! Now, the sec...

The Grand Inquisition

Image
Alright, now on to the Grand Inquisition of the Yankee at Applebee's on Saturday night. Ginger's role was to ask the obscure questions, including the questions to see what he actually knew about Jenny. What instrument did she play in the band in high school? Things like that. "Asian CrossFit Beast" had the role of threatening the poor guy with his life. "I know how to make people disappear." I think of the big brother type roll, but since as Jenny put it, her brother "had to go build his robot," so he wasn't around to threaten. Honestly, I'm much more fearful of "Asian CrossFit Beast" than I am Jenny's brother. Ziva, well, I think Yankee feared Ziva most of all. Knowing her background of investigating for the Attorney General's office, he wanted to make sure he could look her in the eye and gauge her reaction to all that was said. Me, well, I think I can honestly say I was pretty much just an observer. I don't ...

The woman of mystery

I think I will drag out last night's dinner into a couple of blog entries. My life has been quite boring lately, as I am sure you have noticed, so this will give me something to talk about for the day or two. Besides, my family behaved very well for my family yesterday, and I really don't have anything to say about them. I know - shock! (By the way, all involved, including the Yankee himself knows this is up for blog discussion. Jenny asked earlier if I had started posting about it yet.) Ok, so I came into town to make it for the pinning ceremony. When I arrived, Jenny and her mom were waiting in the foyer for "the Yankee" to arrive, and her mom explains as much. I did tell her that meeting him was actually my main reason for attendance. Jenny's brother, dad, aunt and three other friends were already in the auditorium. I sat behind "Ginger" and "Ziva" when I came in since the row was full, and so that I could get caught up on the scoop....
