Tricia Goyer to partner with Zondervan to host 50 Christmas parties in one day

Unique launch of Christmas title allows book clubs

across the country to connect with author

Tricia Goyer and Zondervan (a division of Harper Collins Christian Publishing) have teamed up to offer a unique promotion launching her latest novel, A Christmas Gift for Rose (ISBN: 978-0310336785 / hardcover / $15.99). Goyer has invited her readers to sign up to help her host one of 50 Christmas book club brunches to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013.

Fans can sign up to participate via Goyer’s website (www.triciagoyer.com/book-club-rose/) by November 5, and 50 winners from across the country will be selected from entries received. While Goyer certainly cannot be in 50 places at once, she will be joining all of the parties live via Skype with a special Christmas greeting. A part of her message will include sharing ideas on how guests can join together to impact lives in their communities this Christmas.

Winners selected to host parties in their homes will be provided with a kit that will allow them to share Goyers books with their book club, reading group, friends and family while celebrating the holiday season. The party kit each winner will receive includes:
  • A special hostess gift
  • A copy of A Christmas Gift for Rose
  • A pack of books that will include copies of Goyer’s The Memory Jar, The Promise Box, a sneak peek excerpt of forthcoming The Kissing Bridge (the first three releases of the Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series) and Christmas Stories by Max Lucado
  • Recipe cards, bookmarks and signed bookplates from Goyer to share with friends
  • A Christmas Gift for Rose discussion questions
  • A Gathering & Giving handout
  • A Christmas Gift for Rose trivia game to play during the party
  • Simple brunch recipes
  • Details about the LIVE webcast message to broadcast on December 7th during the brunch

“We are so excited that Tricia wants to offer readers a chance to participate in a Christmas Brunch Book Club party. The holidays are the perfect time to be with those who have a special place in your heart, and we appreciate Tricia looking for ways to connect with her fans all over the country this holiday season,” states Laura Dickerson, marketing manager for Harper Collins Christian Publishing.

“When I sat down to write A Christmas Gift for Rose, I thought about the message I wanted my readers to take with them after turning the last page. That message is as we discover our true selves, we also begin to understand God's plan for our lives,” explains Goyer. “I've been living out this message for the last decade as a writer and true stories inspire me — stories from World War II veterans, stories from Amish friends. In A Christmas Gift for Rose I was able to combine these stories.”

About A Christmas Gift for Rose

Born in the midst of the hardships of The Great Depression, Rose grew up in Berlin, Ohio, in the arms of a loving Amish family. But as she prepares to marry, she’s thrown into confusion when she learns the truth of her birth. She was born Englisch and abandoned when the family moved on in search of work.

Was she meant to be Amish or would she have been better off growing up with her own kind — Englischers? And was her intended’s gift of discovering her birth family given out of love or fear?

This Christmas novella takes place in 1946, right after the end of World War II. My grandma Dolores has told me a lot about those years. Many times she's told me about what it was like living in a boxcar, only having one dress, and eating simple foods, yet still never feeling full,” explains Goyer. “It was important for me to step back into this time in history and share about the struggle and sacrifice. Why? As we understand our past and the challenges of others, it helps us appreciate what we have even more. It also makes us consider what we can do to help those around us . . . just as the Yoder family helped Rose.”
