Take a trip to the Misty Harbor Inn
A Restoration of the Heart
The Misty Harbor Inn series has something for
everyone: romance, history, mystery and faith
What happens when three sisters come together
in Nantucket for the first time since their
mother’s death? Much more than the Marris sisters could have ever anticipated!
The Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn
series (Guideposts Books) introduces readers to Caroline, Gracie and Sam as
they gather for a vacation where they spent the summers as children, and
follows their adventures as they fulfill their mother’s dream of opening a bed
and breakfast. As the sisters heal from their mother’s passing, they bond in ways
they never imagined and discover evidence of God’s hand in the unlikeliest of
circumstances.
A team of four authors come together under the
pen name of Evangeline Kelley to bring the unique personalities of each sister
to vivid life and welcome audiences to the charming and historic island of Nantucket ,
complete with cobblestone streets, quaint shops, ferries, sandy beaches and
salty air. The series weaves together the stories of each of the sisters as
they progress through their own unique personal journeys. Along the way,
readers will discover the wonder of God’s love in the lives of each of his
children.
With each installment, readers are drawn deeper
and deeper into a mystery right alongside the characters. When the sisters
start investigating the 1880 disappearance of a young woman from the house,
they find that their family connection to the Misty Harbor Inn goes back much
further than they ever realized. They also uncover something they never knew
about their own mother. With elements of history, romance and a dash of suspense,
Misty Harbor Inn has something for every reader.
In the first book, releasing this spring, Seaside
Harmony (April 2013/ISBN: 978-0-8249-3246-6/$13.99) readers meet the
Marris sisters as they arrive in Nantucket for the summer and discover their
beloved Misty Harbor Inn is not only shuttered and run-down – it’s for sale.
Drawing on their memories of their late mother’s love for the stately old
colonial house, Caroline convinces her sisters to pool their resources and
shared inheritance to buy the inn and fulfill their mother’s dream of opening a
bed and breakfast. Renovations at the Misty Harbor Inn get under way, bringing a
number of challenges, but as the sisters restore the inn, the old house becomes
a place of grace and transformation, both for the guests and owners. Along with
repairing the house, Caroline also has to learn how to work on her
relationships since her free-spirited and often unfocused ways have a tendency
of hurting those she loves.
Readers won’t have to wait for the second
release in the series as it will be available alongside the first. Sunflower
Summer (April 2013/ISBN: 978-0-8249-3247-3/$13.99) picks up the story
from middle sister Gracie’s perspective. The Misty Harbor Inn is the ideal
place for a romantic getaway, and the sisters are always excited to welcome
honeymoon couples. However, Gracie is especially distressed when one young
couple seems headed for a breakup over breakfast. As she wonders if she should
intervene, she asks God to show her the way. Helping the young couple helps
Gracie make an important discovery about herself: Her sense of responsibility
and unadventurous mindset occasionally make her judgmental and unyielding.
However, by helping the couple, she realizes that she does have a role to play
at the inn and really is needed there.
This fall, the series will close with Whispers
on the Dock (August 2013/ISBN: 978-0-8249-3259-6/$13.99),
featuring youngest sister, Sam. When Sam decides to enter her mother’s
blackberry cobbler recipe in the Summerfest baking contest, she finds that she
has a formidable opponent, a past winner who is not above engaging in dirty
tactics to keep her title. Can Sam's burgeoning faith—and her sisters Caroline
and Gracie—help her rise above the fray to reach out to this lonely woman? Sam
also realizes something we all could use a reminder of: Being around people who
genuinely love God makes her love Him, too.
Between the entertaining sisters, delightful
setting and fascinating guests, readers won’t want to leave Misty Harbor Inn.
